The way the Sumerians lived was based on their social structure.
King:
The kings in Mesopotamia had to act like the early representation of Gods. They were at the very top of the social chain and it was their job to oversee everything that is being done in their kingdom.
Priests:
Priests were the second most powerful beings in the land. They told people what was wrong, right, and what would keep their Gods happy. Specifically in Sumer, the priests were also doctors. So that they were identified as priests, they shaved their heads. They were all male.

The Upper Class:
The people in the upper class wore jewelry. Men and women always walked around dressed in jewelry. Men kept their hair long, and they wore skirts. Women always wore long dresses with one shoulder exposed. In the winter, they always wore long wool cloaks. |

The Lower Class:
The people in the lower class wore the same clothes as the people in the upper class except their clothes were made out of much cheaper material. They wore jewelry as well, but theirs were not expensive. This class worked in the fields and had to work to get by.
Slaves:
Slaves were captured when the Sumerians won a battle. Not only do they take the land, but they also take the people. The slaves do the jobs that other people do not want to do and most of the time they work for the rich.
